The 13th International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is about to start: the committees will start their work on Friday 20th October 2017 to taste and judge the samples and select the winners.
In two days Emozioni dal Mondo 2017 will start and here are all the numbers of this year competition.
More than 200 samples produced in 25 Countries have been enrolled in the Competition. The judges will taste wine from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovachia, Slovenia, South Africa, USA, and Turkey.
The judges called in Bergamo at Corte Berghemina near to Pagazzano Castle come from 30 Countries around the world. Technicians and journalists will get to Bergamo from Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Perù, Polony, Russia, Serbia, Slovachia, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, South Corea, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom.
74 judges enrolled in the tasting session. Following the OIV regulation 51% of the judges are technicians and 51% are foreigners. The committees will be composed of oenologists, wine makers, journalists, web journalists and bloggers.
The 7 committees each of 10 to 12 members will be involved in the tasting sessions next Friday morning.
2 are the tours organized in the Competition program to show the international guests a new vision on Bergamo region and production. On Thursday afternoon the guests will enjoy a guided tour and tasting at Otus Artisanal Brewery in Pedrengo. On Friday afternoon, on the other hand, a tour and a tasting has been organized at the new headquarter of Il Cipresso in Scanzorosciate.
The symposium organized on Saturday 21st October 2017 in the Mosaic Room of Bergamo Chamber of Commerce focusing on the theme “Drink Your Territory and Be Healthy!” will have 5 international papers at show.
6 are Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio wineries taking part to BereBergamo special edition that will take place with the support of Bergamo Municipality at Porta Sant’Agostino in Bergamo.
In that same place the awarded wines tasting desk will open to the public to.
The tasting desk will be open on Saturday 21st October 2017 from 3 pm to 7 pm and on Sunday 22nd October 2017 from 11 am to 7 pm.
The wineries from Bergamo taking part to the event with their Valcalepio DOC and Terre del Colleoni DOC are Cantina Sociale Bergamasca, Cipresso, Tordela, Medolago Albani, QuattroErre and Tosca.

“Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” will focus its symposium on the link between wine, territory and health with international papers.
The Symposium that as usual will close the 13° International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” will definitely deal with a relevant and innovative topic.
The program of the symposium that will take place on Saturday 21st October 2017 at 9 am in the Mosaic Room of Bergamo Chamber of Commerce includes five international papers focusing on the deep link between wine, territory and health.
Professor Rachel Radmilli from the Anthropology Department of the University of Malta will introduce the public to the subject matter with a paper about “Wine: Negotiating the gap between nature and culture”.
Following there will be an innovative point of view about the relationship between wine and health: “Xenohormesis and other benefits of eating local” by Professor Kevin Schembri of the Genetics Department of Cell signaling of the University of Malta.
"Terroir bionome and human bionome interactions: a plus for health ?" is the title chosen by Professor Pierre Courjault-Radé of CNRS, the Environmental GeoScience Departement of Universtity of Toulouse.
Gian Paolo Braceschi of Centro Studi Assaggiatori Brescia will talk about “How to measure the sensorial coherence of wines with their territories” giving to the audience the interesting point of view of sensorial analysis on the matter.
Andrea Casadei of Grow The Planet will present the project Valcalepio Wine Ambassador.
Following all these papers Professor Mario Fregoni will honor the audience with the official preview of his new book “Native American and Asian Vines. A Guide to Rootstocks and Varieties”.
In the end the awarded wines of the 13° ° International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” will be announced.

Less than fifteen days to the International kermesse born in Bergamo that has been collecting in Bergamo Merlot, Cabernet and their blend wines from all around the world in these last thirteen years and today the locations of the Competition have been revealed. (Enrollment are still open until 10th October 2017)
“As usual we wanted to show to our international and national guests some aspects of Bergamo they didn’t know” said the director of the Competition, the oenologist Sergio Cantoni. “Not many people outside Bergamo know how rich our territory is for what concern castles. The number and variety of historical castles we have here in Bergamo never stop to charm our guests and at Emozioni dal Mondo we love to amaze them. This is why we chose Pagazzano for 2017”.
The tasting committees of the International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” are going to work in the extraordinary location of Corte Berghemina the next 20th October 2017. Corte Berghemina directly faces the newly renewed Castle of Pagazzano and is the perfect ensemble of both historical charm and modern commodities

SATURDAY 21ST OCTOBER 2017 and SUNDAY 22ND OCTOBER 2017 the tasting desk of the awarded wines of the 13th International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is going to open to public in a charming historical location in old city Bergamo: Porta Sant’Agostino.
Once again the awarded-wines tasting desk will be matched by a special edition of BereBergamo with a selection of Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio wineries.
The tasting desk will be open to public Saturday 21st October from 3 pm to 7 pm and Sunday 22nd October from 11 am to 7 pm.
“The tasting desk is the perfect occasion to taste some wines that are not easy to find on our wine market panorama in Bergamo but also to discover something more about the Wine of Bergamo, our Valcalepio” said the President of Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio, Emanuele Medolago Albani. “Consorzio has always been a proud supporter of Emozioni dal Mondo and we are proud to be the hosts of the awarded wines produced all over the world”.

The head quarter of the 13th International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is thrilled to announce the renovation of the partnership with the IPSSAR of San Pellegrino Terme.
It all started five years ago when the students of the State Professional Institute for Hotel and Restaurant Services first cooperated in the realization of “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme”.
“Consorzio Tutela Valcalepio and Vignaioli Bergamaschi are extremely happy to welcome the help and cooperation of all those local organizations and institutions that accept to be part of the competition.” – says the director Sergio Cantoni – “Emozioni dal Mondo represents a relevant tool to communicate and promote our territory as a whole and not only from a wine production point of view. We are proud to have the chance to open up the doors of an International Oenological Competition to boys and girls that dream to work in our world. It is a pleasure but we are also deeply aware of the high standard and commitment we ask them. This is why we are extremely grateful to their professors who help us to educate and train them to the tasks they are going to perform during the competition”.
During the 13th International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” scheduled for the 20th October 2017 the students of the IPSSAR of San Pellegrino Terme are going to receive the international and national guests, to accommodate and take care of the tasting committees and to manage the samples service.

The technical-scientific symposium at the end of the 13th International Oenological Competition “Emozioni dal Mondo Merlot e Cabernet Insieme” is scheduled for Saturday 21st October 2017 in the traditional location of Mosaic Room in Bergamo Chamber of Commerce.
